7:33pm: The PATRIOTS trade up to pick #38 with the Cincinnati Bengals.
3:33pm: More details from the Packers/Aaron Rodgers saga. Ian Rapoport is reporting that if the situation is not repaired to Rodgers liking, he would would seriously consider retiring. He would have to repay the team $11.5 million this year and $11.5 million next year if he were to remain retired.
1:03pm: The Patriots may continue to add pieces on the offensive side of the ball during day two of the draft. NFL Network’s Mike Giardi is reporting that New England could use one of their picks on Friday to select a wide receiver.
12:06pm: The Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers continue to be at odds. Green Bay say they will not trade him, and Rodgers still wants out. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Rodgers has told teammates that he doesn’t plan to return.
9:04am: After passing on Ohio State’s Justin Fields last night, the Carolina Panthers picked up quarterback Sam Darnold’s fifth-year option.
12:03am: The first round finishes up with the Super Bowl champion Buccaneers selecting Joe Tyron, linebacker from Washington. The NFL draft continues Friday night at 7pm.
10:14pm: The Patriots get their quarterback! after the Bears jumped them to take Justin Fields, New England selects Mac Jones, quarterback from Alabama.
10:04pm: According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Minnesota Vikings have traded the 14th overall pick to the New York Jets. They sent picks 14 and 143 for 23, 66, and 86.
9:38pm: The Chicago Bears have traded up with the the New York Giants for the 11th pick, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
9:31pm: Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Dallas Cowboys trade the 10th overall pick to the Philadelphia Eagles.
8:42pm: The first two picks are in and, the draft officially begins at number three. The San Francisco 49ers select Trey Lance, quarterback from North Dakota State University.
7:21pm: Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Patriots are not expected to trade for Jimmy Garoppolo tonight, or any time soon. He is reporting that it would take a complex contract negotiation, and that the Patriots don’t currently have the room to fit the contract.
3:20pm: Okay, things are starting to get weird. ESPN’s Adam Schefter dropped an absolute bomb, reporting that Aaron Rodgers is so disgruntled that he does NOT want to return to Green Bay. Jay Glazer from Fox Sports backed up the report saying this is more than just a run of the mill contract dispute and that Rodgers has indeed told the Packers he doesn’t want to return.
2:43pm: It’s not technically a Draft nugget but still too good to not discuss. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reporting that Tim Tebow recently worked out for the Jacksonville Jaguars…..at tight end. Weapons for Trevor Lawrence.
2pm: The 49ers reportedly reached out to the Green Bay Packers about possibly trading for Aaron Rodgers. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, there is zero chance the Packers trade Rodgers.
12:15pm The Patriots are more tight lipped than ever about their feelings on the potential draft quarterbacks. Greg Bedard reports that this is Bill Belichick’s tightest circle ever and only he and McDaniels are inside the circle of trust.
12:15pm: The New Orleans Saints are exploring a trade up into the top-10 according to the NFL Network’s Jay Glazer. It is unclear who or which position the Saints are targeting.
7:30am: According to Adam Schefter multiple teams are expected to inquire about San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. This contradicts what Schefter said Wednesday on WEEI when he reported that it was the Patriots or no one as far as Jimmy G goes.
