The Celtics will face a tough challenge as they welcome the Memphis Grizzlies to town. Without Jaylen Brown, Boston faced an even more uphill challenge against Memphis. But the Celtics persevered, and by playing suffocating defense and limiting Ja Morant, Boston pulled out a 120-107 win on Thursday night.
On the team’s defense of MVP candidate Ja Morant, Head Coach Ime Udoka said the team did an excellent on staying on him for the whole game. “It’s the quietest 38 I’ve ever seen,” said Udoka on his performance.
Jayson Tatum led the way for Boston, and with Jaylen Brown not on the floor, Tatum shouldered the offensive workload in crunch time for the Celtics. When asked on what he can do to help out Jayson Tatum when he’s starting to heat up late in the game, Marcus Smart said plainly “Make sure I’m staying out of his f***ing way.”
On what the difference is between earlier in the season and their play now, Jayson Tatum said “Watching us now, we play with a lot more passion and we seem to be having a lot more fun.”
