The Celtics continued their homestand and host the Denver Nuggets on Friday night. Both teams entered the matchup with 8-3 records and with some of the league’s best three point shooters on each squad. In what was expected to be a tough matchup, Boston continued to roll out an elite offensive performance, and it looked almost effortless with their ball movement and playmaking.
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown led the Celtics in scoring, but Al Horford was one of the game’s bright spots, as he hit the time machine with a 21 point performance on 7-of-12 shooting, including tying his career high in made threes after shooting 6-of-8 behind the arc. The Celtics were expected to struggle in the interior against the physical presence of Jokic and Gordon, but by the end of the night. Boston had won the rebounding battle 46-to-40 in addition to dishing out 30 assists.
Boston’s high-powered offense doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon, and with the diverse and versatile ways they can attack other teams, they’ve suddenly gone from a defense-first team to a run-and-gun offense capable of shredding opponents.
