The Celtics continue their road trip with a matchup against the Sacramento Kings. Both teams started to heat up from deep, but soon enough Boston’s defense brought the heat and the Celtics were off to the races in a 126-97 blowout on Friday night. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown combined for 62 PTS on 23-34 FG (10-15 3P).
“Early on, great energy from the start,” said Ime Udoka after the game. “In general, offense crisp…good focus, regardless of who they were playing, and that’s what we’ve gotta do.”
Payton Pritchard served as a sparkplug for Boston, shooting a perfect 5-5 FG (4-4 3P) along with 5 REB and 8 AST to help pull away from the Kings. “After the trade deadline, I looked at that as this is my opportunity,” said Pritchard, “My shot’s always been there.”
Jayson Tatum took time to praise his rookie coach, saying “He’s done a great job… as a first year head coach in Boston with expectations and the rocky start we had… as a coach in general that would of been tough but especially in your first year”
