Linus Ullmark was solid between the pipes as the Bruins beat the Panthers 4-2 to in game 3 of their Eastern Conference first round matchup to take a 2-1 series lead.
However, head coach Jim Montgomery is considering giving Ullmark a night off in game 4 due to his heavy workload and a nagging physical ailment. So we could see, Jeremy Swayman in net for game 4.
“There are thoughts of going with Jeremy,” Montgomery said Saturday. “Just because one — Jeremy is excellent. And two — after tomorrow’s game, there are [two] days between the next ones, Games 4 and 5. They’ve gone to the rink and when they get back, I’ll huddle with [Bruins goalie coach Bob Essensa], and he’ll let me know.”
Ullmark did not skate Friday morning and was a game time decision to play in Game 3. Most reporters assumed it was Swayman’s net for Game 3 but Ullmark was apparently well enough to play.
The Vezina Trophy favorite ultimately started and went the distance stopping 29 of the 31 shots in teh victory.
