Brad Stevens was interviewed before Game two against the Brooklyn Nets. On the adjustments Boston needed to make in order to get the win, Stevens said “Well there’s two teams out there obviously they’re doing a good job… executed the switches with physicality… it all looks good in theory… you have to cut before the contact, you have to keep the ball moving side to side… it’s more about movement, both body movement and ball movement… you have to cut before they can contact switch.”
On game days, the team is unable to have shootarounds due to scheduling and travel. “We’ve had plenty of time to catch up rest wise,” said Stevens. “We had three days before our first game here…we should be fresh, we should be ready to compete… we didn’t shootaround on gameday the other day…that’s pretty typical…just so the guys aren’t on the bus all day…they make up for that by getting here a little bit earlier.”
Stevens was also asked about the mental toll this season has taken, specifically in comparison to the bubble last year. “It’s always important to put things into perspective” said Coach Stevens. “We’re very fortunate…first of all you have to be thankful for all that we’ve been blessed to be able to continue to do…we understand that in a pandemic we’re not going to complain about that…I think it’s all the time [mental health awareness]…depression and anxiety, those are triggered, those are onset more between 18-20 than any other age… it’s important they have that kind of support in these buildings, in this league, which they do.”
